Wicks Construction, of Decorah, was hired to take over the work from Carstensen Contracting, of Pipestone, Minnesota, which was ordered off the job last month after a series of gas main breaks and other mishaps.

The Fort Dodge Fire Department responded to the gas leak around 10 a.m. Wednesday, which was under control in about 20 minutes and did not require an evacuation, according to the department.
