On Tuesday night the Democratic Assemblyman, who represents the 4th District, met with several dozen people at the El Charro Restaurant in downtown Woodland as part of a “meet and greet.” Unfortunately for the visit, Main Street in front of the restaurant was vacant of traffic because roadway construction is under way just west of El Charro between Walnut and Elm streets with a detour sign set up one block south at College Street.

    In the aftermath of the electronic grade-changing scandal at Dixon High, one student has been expelled, nine suspended, and 23 were cleared of wrongdoing because of insufficient evidence, Dixon Unified leaders said. Superintendent Brian Dolan, in a press release, said school Principal Nick Girimonte and Assistant Principal Stephanie Marquez had, over the past several weeks, interviewed all 32 students, most of them seniors, connected to the grade-changing.

    An 18-year-old Dixon High School student has been arrested on suspicion of altering a computer data system, a felony, in connection with more than 200 grade changes for more than 30 students at the school. Senior Juan Ambriz was taken into custody at the 555 College Way campus by Dixon police after Dixon Unified School District officials uncovered the scandal and said they gathered enough information to conclude he had breached the electronic gradebook system and made the changes.
