Authorities said they served a search warrant at the teen's residence in the 15000 block of Avenida Manzana in Desert Hot Springs and found stolen electronics, jewelry and firearms.

    Officials said Police Chief Dale Mondary will begin working with Interim Chief of Police Jeff Kirkpatrick for a one week transition period before assuming the helm of the department on June, 29. Chief Mondary is coming from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department where he serves as the commander of the Morongo Basin Station. In that role, he's the chief of police for the town of Yucca Valley and the city of Twentynine Palms, according to a city release.

Eric Deshon Brown, 34, walked into the sheriff's station in Palm Desert about 10 p.m. Wednesday and surrendered to investigators, department spokesman Armando Munoz said.

Officers said they responded to a home in the 400 block of Merito Place after someone reported a prowler at 4:30 a.m. Police didn't find the suspect when they arrived but they found an unattended vehicle with a warm engine parked near the home.
