    While many thought it could never be done, a complicated deal between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Barnstable County, the towns of Dennis and Yarmouth and a private shellfish aquaculture company was finalized by a self-imposed deadline of June 30. The Aquaculture Research Corp., a private aquaculture company, produces most of the shellfish seed planted in Cape waters. Thanks to the new agreement, the company will receive a capital shot in the arm by selling its almost 40 acres off Chapin Beach Road to the town of Dennis, which in turn has placed the land under a conservation restriction to prevent any future development beyond the shellfish farm.
