    The deaths of stillborn and recently born bottlenose dolphins found stranded on beaches and in coastal waters along the shores of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama during the four years after the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill were likely the result of chronic health problems of their mothers and linked their exposure to oil from the spill, according to a new research paper published Tuesday The paper published in the Belgium-based Diseases of Aquatic Organisms was co-authored by 27 scientists working for the National Marine Fisheries Service, other NOAA agencies, several marine laboratories, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans, and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries.
