    The Decorah Street Department will pick up residents' leaves from now until Wednesday, Nov. 15. Street Department crews will be collecting leaves on assigned pickup days for each neighborhood. People living in Wards 1 and 2 should have leaves raked into the curb by Oct. 2, while Ward 3 pickups will begin Oct. 9 and Wards 4 and 5 will have pickups starting Oct. 16. The schedule will then be repeated for the next three weeks, with Wards 1 and 2 pickups starting Oct. 23, Ward 3 pickups starting Oct. 30 and Wards 4 and 5 pickups starting Nov. 6. City crews will pick up only leaves -- the street vacuum cannot pick up sticks, brush, garden refuse or other yard waste.

Pat Heiderscheit, Administrator of Keystone AEA, says a public hearing regarding a petition for the merger of the Decorah CSD and North Winneshiek CSD will be held on October 16 at 5:30 p.m. in Recital Hall, Center for Faith and Life, at Luther College in Decorah. Objections to the proposed merger of the Decorah and North Winneshiek Community School Districts may be filed by any landowners or residents in the districts.
