    What role does Seed Savers Exchange play in the seed conservation movement? How does SSE use science-based protocols to maintain its collection to international standards? And how is SSE working to develop the next generation of seed savers? Three experts from the Decorah-based organization - Diane Ott Whealy, John Torgrimson and Timothy Johnson - will address those questions during a panel discussion to be held immediately following the screening of the documentary "Seeds of Time" Sunday, March 8, at 2:30 p.m. on the Luther College campus in Decorah. The film is one of more than 50 movies on tap for the 2015 Oneota Film Festival, to be held March 68. Attendance at all festival films is free of charge.

    ArtHaus and The Clay Studio in Decorah are hosting a community glaze-a-thon Saturday, Feb. 21, from 4-6 p.m., to decorate bowls for Empty Bowls, a favorite local event that helps area food pantries and other hunger programs. No experience is needed and pre-registration is not required; participants may simply stop by ArtHaus Studio at 516 W Water Street or The Clay Studio, 207 Washington St, to lend a hand in decorating bowls thrown by area potters.

    James Dalluge, 54, Waterloo, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating while intoxicated after the car he was driving hit a parked car in Decorah Saturday at about 6:45 p.m. According to Decorah Police, Dalluge was northbound on Washington Street when his vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Mary Wandro of Charles City. Dalluge drove away from the scene but pieces of his vehicle remained there and were later identified as pieces from his vehicle.

According to Decorah Police, Jenkins was eastbound when he slowed down to turn left onto East Ridge Road at about 11:15 p.m. Jenkins told Police he became distracted after a passenger dropped on object on the floor. His vehicle then drifted into the oncoming lane and struck a van driven by Mark Werden, 63, Postville, head on.
