What would a 15 year-old farm girl write about in her diary in 1913? How would that diary manage to survive moving from Minnesota to Iowa to Minnesota and back to Iowa over a period of 100 years? And why is it now in print? To answer the last question first, Dean and Gerry Schwarz say, "We were friends with Iduna and her husband, Dr. Henry Field.

    With just over a month left in his term on the Decorah City Council, Chuck Lore resigned from his position at the conclusion of Monday night's Council meeting. Lore was defeated in the Nov. 7 city election by Johanna Bergan; his term was due to expire Dec. 31. "I will resign at the end of this meeting so she can sit in this chair in December," he said.

This will be the 13th annual Holiday Lights event held at Pulpit Rock Campground in Decorah. Holiday Lights is an annual fundraiser for Helping Services for Youth & Families, a nonprofit organization with programs that promote healthier and safer families and youth residing throughout nine counties in Northeast Iowa.
