    The 20-year-old driver who led officers and agents from several Yuma County law enforcement agencies on a nearly 70-mile vehicle pursuit in July that ended near Dateland, was sentenced Thursday morning in Yuma County Superior Court. After informing Emmanuel Duenas that the court did not find that probation was appropriate, Superior Court Judge sentenced him to 2 1/2 years in prison, with credit for 127 days he has already served, for attempted aggravated assault.

    After a brief downpour Wednesday morning, the areas surrounding Dateland and Wellton are currently in the lead for the most rainfall since tropical storm Newton hit Mexico and brought moisture to the southwest, a National Weather Service official said.
