    The Yell County Sheriff's Office arrested Sammy J. Jordan, 37, over the weekend in relation to a stabbing in the Haney Hollow community outside Dardanelle. According to Sheriff Bill Gilkey, Jordan called Yell County 911 and reported the stabbing and was taken into custody a few hours later after officers alleged inconsistencies between statements made by Jordan and facts uncovered during the investigation.

    The second solar power plant in the Arkansas River Valley will be built in Yell County and possibly be in operation by the end of the year. Arkwest Communications Inc. of Danville announced this week that it will build a 450 kilowatt direct current solar photovoltaic power plant on 5.98 acres on the Burrows Site located at 800 West State Highway 10. According to information provided by Scenic Hill Solar LLC, the plant will produce 675,000 kilowatt hours of electricity in the first year and over 18.8 million kWh during the next three decades.
