    The towns of Dallas and Lincolnton have voluntarily agreed to temporarily stop withdrawing water from the South Fork River because a manure spill upstream, according to the N.C. Department of Environmental Quality. A pump malfunction Monday at the Gladden Dairy in Catawba County caused 200,000 gallons of manure to spill into Pott Creek northwest of Lincolnton, according to the state.

    A Dallas man is facing drug charges after police say he attempted to sell methamphetamine to a Gaston County Police informant.  Brakefield has been charged with three counts each of selling methamphetamine to an informant, delivering methamphetamine to the informant, possession with the intent to manufacture, sell or distribute methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, maintaining a dwelling house used to keep and sell drugs and manufacturing methamphetamine.  Police say Brakefield packaged and repackaged 1.8 grams and 0.8 grams of methamphetamine.
