    Mass Audubon Long Pasture in Cummaquid is setting up for the ninth annual Cape Cod Wildlife Festival on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “We want people to come out and learn about all of the diverse habitats here on the Cape,” said Heather Rockwell, director of operations at Barnstable Clean Water Coalition.

    The story of the first Thanksgiving at Plymouth has left an unshakable impression on the nation's collective psyche with its tale of triumph over tragedy and of a friendship forged with the Wampanoag. For example, while perusing the Nov. 27, 1947, issue of the Barnstable Patriot, which published on Thanksgiving 70 years ago, we find this message: “In the fall of 1621 an abundant harvest from the seeds sown in the spring was the cause of great rejoicing, especially since the memory of the preceding winter was very keen, as having brought much suffering and privation.
