    Members of the Farmville-Prince Edward community dedicated its LOVEworks last Friday under a shining sky. Designed by Al Buczek, with much of the work done by Paul Kovalenko, the sculpture is the 40th in the state, part of the "Virginia Is For Lovers" marketing campaign by the Virginia Tourism Corporation , whose President and CEO, Rita D. McClenny, praised the beauty of the design and commended the public-private partnership that made it a reality, predicting it would be a stand-out photo-op for visitors, given its proximity to so many of the community's outstanding major attractions.

    Cumberland County Police seized approximately 75 marijuana plants from an indoor grow operation on Anderson Highway, U.S. Route 60, near the Cumberland/Powhatan County line Wednesday night, December 17. "This man wasn't just throwing a seed in the ground to see what happens," Deputy Rodney Davenport told The Herald Wayne T. McCraw, 53, of Cumberland was arrested Wednesday night in connection with the seizure on felony charges of manufacturing marijuana, possession with intent to sell, and a misdemeanor charge of possession.
