    A moped rider was hospitalized early Wednesday afternoon after his scooter struck a trailer parked on the side of a Crystal River-area roadway. According to a Citrus County sheriff's deputy investigating the crash, the moped was traveling south on North Holiday Drive and hit the trailer as it was parked on the southern side of Holiday Drive, around the bend from the intersection with West Oak Street.

    Police had to shut down a Crystal River roadway Tuesday afternoon while they coaxed a man threatening to end his life out of a home in the Copeland Park area. Citrus County sheriff's deputies responded at about 3:30 p.m. to a home near the corner of Northeast Eighth Avenue and Northeast Third Street, where a man had come out of his home with a weapon and threatened suicide before going back inside, sheriff's spokeswoman Lindsay Blair said.
