The 27th annual fair is scheduled for Friday, September 28, and Saturday, September 29. In addition to one of the best live music lineups in Central Texas, there will be over 100 food and craft vendors and an International Barbecue Cookers Association state championship barbecue cook-off.

    Hillsboro High School will celebrate homecoming Friday, September 14, and Saturday, September 15. Activities will get underway with a parade/spirit walk at 2 p.m. Friday beginning at Hillsboro Junior High School. Line-up will begin at 1:30 p.m. The parade will head northbound on Church Street to Elm Street; west on Elm to Covington Street; north on Covington to Franklin Street; and east on Franklin Street ending on the parking lot across from Historic City Hall, where a pep rally will be held at 2:30 p.m. Local businesses are being invit-ed to show their school spirit by participating in the homecoming decorating contest.

According to reports, the fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m., and volunteer firefighters from Covington, Blum, Itasca, Grandview and Hillsboro responded to the scene.

    A deadly two-vehicle collision claimed the lives of two victims at the intersection of Highway 171 and Farm Road 934 in the Osceola area just before 3 p.m. Thursday, November 23. Reports from the Department of Public Safety revealed that a sport-utility vehicle driven by Danie Roberts of Austin traveling southbound on Highway 171 and a car driven by Willis Jordan of Hillsboro heading westbound on Farm Road 934 collided. Jordan and a passenger in the car, identified as Rebecca Jordan of Hillsboro, were ejected from the vehicle.
