    The National Police Defense Foundation 'Safe Cop Program' has posted a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the man Cordele Police say shot at one of its officers early Monday morning. Police Chief Rob Rodriguez of the Cordele Police Department requested the reward from the NPDF after Lewis attempted to pull over a vehicle that was driving without lights.

The chief said that around 4:00 this morning Cochran was stopped for a traffic violation, in his dark-colored Nissan Maxima by Cordele Police Officer Brian Lewis, in the 1200 block of South 7th Street.

The Crisp County Sheriff's Office said the State of Emergency was declared just before noon on Thursday as a preventative measure to make sure there is no price gouging at gas stations, hotels and other places evacuees may frequent because of Hurricane Irma.
