    Six family members from Middle Island were treated at a hospital Wednesday morning for carbon monoxide poisoning after using a generator in their basement during a power outage, officials said. Four of the six transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson were treated in the facility's hyperbaric oxygen unit, said spokesman Stuart Vincent said.

    Riverhead police have arrested a Coram man who they say beat up a 69-year-old man in the parking lot of a bagel store in Calverton Friday afternoon. Philip Puglisi, 23, of Groton Lane was arraigned on a second-degree assault charge in Riverhead Justice Court and was being held at the Suffolk jail on $25,000 bail, police said.
