But nobody there ever asked Helen Hauptmann Painter's two sons to play the part of America's folkloric icon.

    Faulkner County Sheriff Andy Shock confirmed Wednesday with the Log Cabin Democrat that an internal investigation is ongoing whether two deputies used excessive force during an arrest in May that involved gunfire and a high-speed chase. The Log Cabin reported FCSO deputies were involved in a vehicle pursuit that began in Mayflower and ended in Conway on May 3. The chase reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour, and while driving on the interstate, a passenger in the suspect vehicle fired several times at deputies, who according to the FCSO, did not return fire.
