    Authorities say they're suspending the search for two men who are presumed to have drowned after their snowmobile broke through thin ice on a western New York lake. A fourth day of searching Conesus Lake on Wednesday failed to find the bodies of Christopher Copeland, of Livonia, and Jason Fluet, of Rochester, both 40. Family members told police the two men went snowmobiling early Saturday morning and never returned.

    The Conesus Lake Watershed Stream bank Erosion Remediation Project is recognized by the Genesee Valley Branch of the American Public Works Association as the 2016 Small Cities/Rural Communities Project of the Year in the Environmental Projects category. According to a press release from Livingston County, the completed project is designed to protect over half a mile of stream bank that keeps an estimated 921 tons of soil from being washed away per year in the Towns of Conesus, Geneseo and Livonia.

    The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says that a sex offender from Conesus was arrested after he reportedly did not tell the proper authorities that he had an e-mail address, Facebook account, and internet in his residence. Deputies say that 70-year-old Robert Fisher, a level 2 New York State Registered Sex Offender, is accused of not providing the above information to either local law enforcement or the New York State Sex Offender Registry.
