    Gas prices at several area stores in the region dipped below $2 per gallon for regular unleaded over the weekend. In Summit Hill, two stores located across from each other both lowered their prices with the Valero on East Amidon St checking in at $1.98 per gallon Sunday afternoon, while the Qwik Fill across the street stayed competitive at $1.99 per gallon.

    A Schuylkill County judge revoked the parole of a Tamaqua man charged with reckless endangerment in the death of his infant son last year. Joseph E. Kuhla, 23, had pleaded guilty on Dec. 10, 2014, to recklessly endangering another person and was sentenced by Schuylkill County Judge Charles J. Miller to 15 days to 12 months in jail.

It was shortly after midnight when an officer on patrol saw a man walking along the highway, headed toward Tamaqua. The man was acting as if someone was chasing him, said he thought something or someone was in the woods, but noted he would be fine when the officer stopped to make sure everything was all right.

Tamaqua police were called by an emergency room physician at St. Luke's Miners Hospital in Coaldale at 12:45 a.m. The doctor wanted to talk about a female patient who had substantial head and facial injuries.
