    PETALUMA >> The momentum Clear Lake High School softball coach Doug Wingler was hoping to take into next week's North Coast Section Division V playoffs will have to come from somewhere else because the Cardinals generated little if any with a 5-1 non-league loss to the St. Vincent Mustangs on Thursday afternoon in Petaluma. St. Vincent , the North Central League II champion this season, did a good job of quieting Clear Lake's bats in the regular-season finale for both teams, allowing just three hits, but the Mustangs also had the benefit of playing a Cardinals squad that was far from 100 percent for a variety of reasons.
