    A badly injured cat was found in a Clearfield yard late last month, and investigators believe it's possible the case is connected to the torture of a pet cat named Sage earlier in March that garnered worldwide attention. The new case involves a 1-year-old orange tabby domestic cat that was found in a side yard in the area of 500 East and Lynwood Drive on March 29, said Clinton Thacker, director of Davis County Animal Care & Control.

    Animal control officials are trying to find out who abused an injured cat found in the same area of Clearfield where a tortured cat died last month. The Davis County Animal Care and Control said Thursday in a news release that it is offering a $3,000 reward for help find the people responsible for the abuse of a 1-year-old cat found on March 29. The male tabby cat is expected to survive.

    The Humane Society of Utah has raised its original $5,000 reward to $27,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for torturing a cat that died from its injuries. Sage, a 6-year-old gray and white domestic cat, belonged to Clearfield resident China Rose, who posted photos of Sage on Facebook with a detailed description of the signs of abuse she found when the cat made its way back home Wednesday.

    The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for torturing a cat in Clearfield. Sage, a 6-year-old gray and white domestic cat, belongs to Clearfield resident China Rose, who posted photos of Sage on Facebook with a detailed description of the signs of abuse she found when the cat made its way back home March 8. According to Rose, when Sage returned, he had been beaten and tortured, his whiskers cut, fur shaved and ribs snapped.

    Identical twins James and Matthew Criddle were born by emergency cesarean section at 11:59 p.m. December 31 and 12:01 a.m. January 1, respectively, at the Davis Hospital Medical Center in Layton. Their parents, Huyen Nguyen and Nick Criddle of Clearfield, say they were expecting a quick visit to address some concerns but ended up being transferred to labor and delivery.

Donald Heywood Beatty, 54, was charged in Davis County Justice Court in May with class B misdemeanor charges of assault, unlawful detention, threats of violence and interrupting a communication device.
