Holtmeyer, 36, formerly of Clearfield, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison for the death of Kimberly Dotts in 1998.

    A Clearfield County judge has been instructed by the Pennsylvania Superior Court to explain why he dismissed an inmate's complaint charging inadequate medical care at a state correctional institution as The inmate, Dennis McKeithan, 61, who is serving a prison term of 55 to 110 years for robberies he committed in Philadelphia, filed a civil lawsuit with the Clearfield County Court asking that SCI Houtzdale be ordered to reinstate medical care for a skin condition that he had received while being housed for 10 years at SCI Albion near Philadelphia. Clearfield County Judge Fredric J. Ammerman dismissed the lawsuit as frivolous and stated that the inmate did not provide proper medical certification required when charging medical malpractice.

    A Clearfield County man who sold multiple stolen handguns for money and drugs has lost his right to challenge his 10- to 20-year sentence because he missed the deadline for filing the appeal. The Pennsylvania Superior Court on Tuesday upheld a Jan. 4 decision by Clearfield County President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman in which he denied Brett Andrew Moore's request to reinstate his appeal rights.

    The money from DCNR's Community Conservation Partnerships Program is among $44 million awarded for a total of 266 projects throughout the state, according to a news release from the governor's office. The awards include $200,000 for Antis Township for improvements to the Bellwood-Antis Community Park, $187,000 for Logan Township for improvements to Greenwood Park and $200,000 for Altoona-based Allegheny Ridge Corp. to coordinate and pay for heritage area initiatives, according to DCNR.
