    State policed arrested a man on Tyler Street in Pittsfield on Sunday evening after it was determined that he had outstanding warrants and was unlawfully in possession of a firearm. Michael McCoy, 31, of Pittsfield, was placed under arrest on three outstanding arrest warrants, which were for failure to appear in Central Berkshire District Court and original charges involving motor vehicle offenses.

    Recently, the Selectmen for the town of Cheshire made a cost saving and diligent decision to eliminate health insurance for part-time elected and appointed officials, thus saving the taxpayers an estimated $10,000 to 15,000 annually. While Massachusetts state law requires cities and towns to offer health insurance to any employee who works a minimum of 20 hours per week, elected and appointed officials are excluded from this requirement.
