    In order to prevent electrical outages, the city of Cheney has hired a contractor to trim trees near power lines in Cheney. Tree trimming will begin in April and will continue through May.     LDS youth work to clean up the pine needles at Salnave Park Saturday, March 21. The gathered pine needles were taken to the Cheney Green Waste facility to get mixed with other green waste to create mulch. On Saturday March 21, over 50 Latter Day Saint youth and adult leaders from Cheney and Medical Lake volunteered four hours of their time to clear Salnave Park of pine needles.

    The only thing that went wrong for the Cheney High School softball team last Saturday at Clarkston was they missed a pair of extra points and gave up a safety. The lack of four varsity starters for the Bantams due to the school's early spring break turned a Great Northern League doubleheader into more of a football game type score as the Lady Blackhawks demolished Clarkston 24-2 in game one and 26-0 in the nightcap.
