    Nine youths were arrested - including eight juveniles - at the Revere Beach Bandstand on Sunday night in a confrontation with police that turned into a large melee. The heat was scorching down on the Beach in an early season near 90-degree day, and the heat from the Sun sparked a bevy of bad behavior on the Beach.

    Last Friday, the old Reardon's Pub building came down to make way for an elderly residential building, and while it's known in more recent times as a hang-out and bar, it's also the end for one of the oldest buildings in Revere - a place where stagecoaches stopped, horses rested and Colonial dignitaries took their lunch. Much of the original building had been built over, but the foundation was the same foundation that was put in place by John Fenno in 1835 to create the first general store and "Publick House" in the area.

    Sliding into second base these days would require snow pants and galoshes rather than cleats and long pants, and high school teams across the area are finding that the record-setting snow could force most their season to be going, going and gone. With more than one foot of snow still occupying many baseball and softball fields due to the Snowmageddan of the past 60 days, many local high school programs are scratching their heads about what they'll do to conduct part of a season without a field.

    A 16-year-old from the Seacoast School was arrested on serious charges after a fight that injured a teacher last Thursday morning. The youth was charged with disturbing a school assembly, assault and battery on a public employee and assault and battery on a person over 60 with serious bodily injury.

    Police continue an active investigation into the murder of 18-year-old Andres Jaramillo last Friday morning in his car, which was parked on Garfield Avenue near the Garfield School. A spokesman for the Suffolk County DA said there have been no arrests made as of Tuesday, but that leads are being followed.

    A Revere man is facing charges after an argument with his wife where he threatened to burn down the house last Wednesday, Jan. 21. Police were called to the residence on Sagamore Street around 11:52 p.m. for a domestic incident between a husband and wife. After the argument, the man threatened to burn down the house and he obtained a juice filled bottle and actually spilled some gasoline on the stairwell and landing.

    A close vote for Republican Charlie Baker in Revere is being considered nothing less than a victory this week for local Republicans, as well as for many local Democrats who broke ranks and supported Baker. Though Baker came up about 234 votes short of winning Revere, he scored big in key precincts around Ward 6 and showed up strong in an area that has almost uniformly gone Democratic.
