    Less than a month after he lost a $2.9 million defamation verdict, Chelmsford resident Roland Van Liew has filed an appeal asking the trial judge to amend the damages or order a new trial. Attorney Alan Hoch, representing Van Liew and his company, Hands on Technology, filed notice of the appeal on April 7 in Lowell Superior Court.

Another time, Morris laughed about his mediocre chipping game, only marginally improved after a trip to Florida that should have made it better, said Tony Coit of Chelmsford, a friend of Morris since their freshman year at Keith Academy in 1958.

    A Chelmsford man who is already charged with trying to hire a hit man to murder his estranged wife was arraigned Friday on federal charges that he asked his cellmate to help him hire someone to murder the state trooper who posed as the hit man. The U.S. Attorney's Office alleges in court documents that Andrew Gordon, 52, allegedly asked his cellmate at the Billerica Jail to contact the cell mate's cousin, a gang member living in New Hampshire, to kill a Massachusetts trooper and an acquaintance who are both witnesses against him in the case involving his wife.
