    CHARLTON – A 39-year-old man was ordered held without bail on Monday after he allegedly threatened to shoot his half-brother and hid an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle in the woods. Tyson Loftus of 188 City Depot Road was charged with possession of a large capacity firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and threatening to commit murder.

    A 50-year-old Charlton man was hit and killed by a car while trying to cross Route 20 Friday night, police confirmed Saturday. The victim, Adelard "Del" Mongeon, 24 Worcester Road, was initially taken by Charlton Fire Department personnel to Harrington Hospital in Southbridge, but was subsequently flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester, where he was pronounced dead.

    CHARLTON – Water-Sewer Commissioner Robert F. Lemansky has filed a lawsuit claiming defamation by a fellow commissioner and the Telegram & Gazette. The focus of the lawsuit is a privately-installed sewer line that has been referred to as “illegal.” The lawsuit was filed in Worcester Superior Court on Feb. 5. It names Alex J. MacKenzie and the newspaper and its correspondent, Debbie LaPlaca, citing four news stories published in 2017 about the sewer line.
