    CHARLOTTE, NC The popular hunting store Gander Mountain, which closed most of its stores last spring after filing for bankruptcy , is reopening three stores in the Charlotte area under a new name: Gander Outdoors. Gander Mountain was acquired last May by Illinois-based Camping World Holdings Inc. The first Gander Outdoors in the region will open in Mooresville, Gastonia and Monroe, the company said in a statement this week.

    Teen retailer American Eagle, which closed its SouthPark location in January 2015, will open a 5,000 square-foot store near the Macy's wing this spring, according to a statement Friday from SouthPark owner Simon Property Group. Also opening this spring is an athletic footwear and apparel retailer called The Athlete's Foot.

    A lawsuit filed Tuesday by former business associates of Rick Siskey alleges that his widow, Diane, "actively participated" in her late husband's Ponzi schemes, received millions in ill-gotten gains and is still hiding significant funds offshore. The complaint filed by a private equity fund once called Siskey Capital and two of its employees also accuses insurance giant MetLife and its securities arm of turning a blind eye to Rick Siskey's illegal activities, despite a "clear warning" that he was a "rogue broker."

    It's not unusual these days for people in Charlotte to treat their pets like their kids you'll hear owners referring to themselves as a "dog mom" or "dog dad," spending thousands on boarding and health care, heck, even using a puppy as a wing man to strike up conversations at the brewery. I was strolling through the produce section at the Harris Teeter in Dilworth a few weeks ago when I noticed a woman with two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels perched in her shopping cart like toddlers.

    The home of the late Rick Siskey has sold for $4.5 million, $1 million less than the asking price, according to documents filed with the Mecklenburg County Register of Deeds. Siskey's widow, Diane, sold the property Aug. 9 to a limited liability company called 3545 Sharon Road LLC, named after the home's address.
