    WAYNE ALLEN COOPER, of West Hamlin, passed away Sun., March 27, 2016, at the age of 54 years, 11 months and 27 days; born March 31, 1961, he was the son of the late Everett Kenneth and Rose Ann Frye Cooper; and was also preceded in death by: one brother, Rodney Dale Cooper. He worked many years for Blenko glass and did auto body work in his own garage.

    Growing concern greeted last week's update from Lincoln County's superintendent of schools regarding a further fall in enrollment here. In addition, the school board heard that 135 students are now homeschooled in Lincoln County.

    A Lincoln County commissioner last week described as a "bunch of malarkey," proposals from state lawmakers to reduce coal severance taxes. Commissioner Charles Vance, speaking at the March 3, 2016 regular session in Hamlin, said the proposal would essentially involve taking the coal severance revenues away from the counties and the people, in favor of reducing taxes on coal companies.
