    According to St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert, over the last 72 hour weekend reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 117 complaints and reports the following arrests: Ronald J. Armond, Sr.., 43, 248 Murial Street, Bayou L'Ourse, LA was arrested on August 21, 2015 at 4:30 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of possession of hydrocodone and on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A deputy transported Armond from the Assumption Parish jail to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center on the warrants.

    A 40-year-old New Iberia woman pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing from a Chitimacha tribal business, according to United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley. Rebecca Bacas, 40, conducted a scheme from December 30, 2011, to January 12, 2012, to steal $1,630.50 from the Chitimacha Trading Post in Charenton by cashing what appeared to be three payroll checks that turned out to be worthless.

    A family with a baby due next month lost everything in a trailer fire yesterday on Ivy Lane in Charenton. Fire officials said they believe the fire was caused by a faulty air conditioning unit, but the blaze remains under investigation.

The warrant for simple battery stems from an investigation into a complaint of a disturbance that occurred at a residence on West Side Park Lane in Amelia in June of 2014.
