Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Bourbonnais.

    The Smithsonian Institution's traveling exhibit "Water/Ways" will make the last of six Illinois stops at Will County's Four Rivers Environmental Center at Channahon starting Jan. 28 and running through March 11. Co-sponsored by the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street program, the Forest Preserve District of Will County and the Illinois Humanities Council, the exhibition couldn't be offered in a more appropriate place than this "wide waters" area where the Kankakee, Des Plaines and DuPage rivers meet to create the Illinois River. The exhibition "dives into water - an essential component of life on our planet, environmentally, culturally and historically," Smithsonian's description notes.

    A settlement agreement that brings Kankakee one step closer to ending any involvement with the controversial sales tax agreements challenged by the Regional Transportation Authority was approved Monday by the Kankakee City Council. Kankakee's OK of the agreement means $173,705 it was holding will go to its sales-tax agreement partner, Inspired Development, which will then turn the money to the RTA and the Cook County Board.
