    CERRITOS >> A furniture and home accessories store plans to open within a few months in a half-empty shopping center on the city's east side. Daniel's Home Center , a family owned and operated business with three locations in Anaheim, purchased the $9.6 million, 3.83 acre neighborhood shopping complex, located at the southwest corner of Carmenita Road and Artesia Boulevard, on June 15, said Brett O'Keefe of Re/Max Commercial, who brokered the deal for Daniel's Home Center.

    Cerritos residents reduced their water consumption 18 percent in March and April, and 25 percent in May, compared to the same months in 2013, city officials announced Friday. Residents used an average 111 gallons of water per person per day in March and April compared to 135 gallons two years ago, and 107 gallons per person per day in May compared to 143 gallons in May 2013, officials said.

    The City Council will consider an agreement at Tuesday's meeting that would allow the City of Cerritos to construct a $2 million recycled water line through the city that would be used to irrigate those medians with reclaimed water , an allowed exemption to the law requiring cities to avoid watering medians . The water pipeline would be operated by Cerritos and extend to Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cypress, according to the council agenda staff report .
