    When listing just the recent injuries his now two-time North Shore Conference champion girls soccer team has had to endure this spring, veteran Homestead coach Rich Dorn couldn't help but break into an ironic and sadly joking rendering of a favorite holiday song: Even given all that, the Highlanders still managed to clinch that second straight title with a gritty 1-0 win over Whitefish Bay on May 17. Homestead, ranked third in state D2 polls, followed that win with a tough loss to unbeaten and D1 top-ranked Brookfield Central, 4-2, on May 19. Homestead looked to finish the conference schedule on an unbeaten note with its closer against Cedarburg on May 24. That game will also serve as the Highlanders' overall regular season close.

    A 29-year-old Cedarburg woman was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and two warrants after the car she was in ran out of gas in the 9900 block of West Mequon Road at 4:32 p.m. April 29. The woman said she was a recovering drug user and had track marks on her hands. In her purse were needles, a cooker with residue, a crack pipe, foil squares, tourniquets and other drug paraphernalia.

    A 2005 4-door Mercedes Benz was taken with keys from a garage in the 10200 block of North Cedarburg Road sometime after 8 p.m. March 21 and 10 a.m. March 22. Entry might have been gained through an unlocked service door. Mequon police assisted Cedarburg police in the arrest of two 23-year-old men and a 24-year-old man, of Milwaukee, for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at West Pioneer and North Green Bay roads at 9:30 p.m. March 18. K-9 Iron was called to the scene and marijuana, baggies and a scale were located in the men's car along with over $2,500.

A portion of the road will be closed between Heidel and Lake Bluff roads from 7:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. while 25 firefighters from Theinsville, Mequon, Cedarburg and Grafton conduct a training that involves the demolition of a home at 640 Green Bay Road. It will be the second phase of training at the home, which was offered to firefighters for training by a resident who wanted to demolish it.

A bag holding a laptop, purse and iPhone, value not available, were taken from a car left unlocked for just a few minutes while she picked up her children in the 2900 block of West Mequon Road about 3:33 p.m. Feb. 2. A man and woman were seen putting packages of meat into the woman's purse, fleeing the store and driving away from Sendik's, 10930 N. Port Washington Road, at 1:20 p.m. Feb. 3. The case is under investigation.
