    Cazenovia College has named Ronald Chesbrough, currently the president of St. Charles Community College in Cottleville, MO., as its new president effective July 1. Chesbrough, 59, who is originally from northern New York and completed his undergraduate work at SUNY Potsdam, will be the college's 29th president. Chesbrough has more than 25 years of experience in college leadership and administration, said Paul de Lima, interim chairman of the Cazenovia College Board of Trustees.

And the two Lakers, who helped lead Cazenovia to its first state championship in football in November, were joined by seven other Section III players who earned first-team honors on small schools teams - Classes B, C and D - selected by sportswriters from across the state.

    An Onondaga County Court judge today ruled that a federal court order to speed up a murder retrial couldn't be done. County Court Judge Thomas J. Miller said he was confused by the Dec. 23 order from the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals to hold a murder trial for Hector Rivas by Feb. 1. Rivas, formerly of Cazenovia, has served more than 23 years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend, Valerie Hill, in 1987.
