The death of P-32 , as the puma was properly known, is bringing focus once more to a proposal to build a crossing that would make it easier for mountain lions in the Santa Monica Mountains to reach their promised land - the Los Padres National Forest. P-32 was found on the 5 Freeway near Castaic on Aug. 10, some time after the young male was apparently struck and killed by a car.

The city filed a claim with its insurance provider AIG to recover $5,959,710.98 of the money allegedly embezzled by former Department of Public Works management analyst Danny Ray Wooten from an account used to fund projects to underground utilities, according to documents obtained by this news organization.
