    No one was injured Sunday afternoon when a privately owned helicopter crash-landed on a frozen section of the Black River off Route 3. Emergency personnel responded at 3:15 p.m. to a report of the two-seat craft down near 789 West End Ave., just downriver from Metro Paper Industries and across from Gamble Distributors Inc. By the time responders arrived, the pilot, Gary Johnson of Carthage, and a passenger, Michael Rohr, had extricated themselves from the wreckage and had walked across the ice to Route 3. “When you hear of an aircraft going down, or any issue like that, you expect the worst,” Jefferson County Sheriff Colleen M. O'Neill said.
