    In the tradition of the past seven years, the Carthage chapter of Lions Clubs International and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1762 teamed up on Thanksgiving Day to serve free meals at the lodge and to deliver dinners. By noon, said Lion Bruce Hazen, 100 take out meals had already been delivered by and 80 people were queuing at the lodge for turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce and vegetables.

    A collision between a motorcycle and an SUV Saturday along Route 11 in the town of LeRay sent the motorcycle into a guardrail and ejected the driver. The Jefferson County sheriff's deputies, who investigated the incident, said both vehicles were traveling south when the motorcyclist, Jared S. Gilson, Black River, struck the SUV driven by Sarah Peck, Carthage, causing him to lose control.
