According to the county staff presentation made by planner Luke Connolly, the long-delayed subdivision proposed for part of the Rancho Cañada golf course off Carmel Valley Road is expected to go to the Planning Commission in a formal public hearing on Oct. 26. It could return for a second hearing on Nov. 9, if necessary.

The area is bounded on the north by Castro Canyon and on the south by Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. On the east the boundary is North Coast Ridge Road and on the west the boundary is Highway 1. Fire managers issued the warning because of an expected increase of wind associated with a passing weather front.
