    CARLSBAD >> After the false alarm that occurred Aug. 4 at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, the Carlsbad Environmental Monitoring and Research Center performed its own air samplings of Station B. " conducted both non-destructive gross alpha/beta screening and isotopic destructive analyses of a WIPP Station B exhaust air filter," a CEMRC news release said. CEMRC Director Russell Hardy explained that when the center screens for radiation, workers place one filter near the air exhaust they use to collect the total radiation content in that area.
