Adams' efforts towards sobriety, Cumberland County Judge Edward Guido gave him a probationary sentence. Adams, 26, of Newville, was sentenced Tuesday to 48 months of probation on charges of criminal trespass, burglary, theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

    State police said Monday that a Carlisle man who ran away after troopers used their cruiser to end a high-speed chase has turned himself in. The pursuit began after Corey J. Wilson, 18, was pulled over for speeding at Burnthouse Road and the Ritner Highway in Dickinson Township just after 2 a.m. Saturday, police said.

    Police charged Christopher Harrison, 22, with possession of a controlled substance after they said they caught him with heroin as he was arrested for retail theft Saturday afternoon. A man caught stealing DVDs and drinks from a Giant grocery store in Carlisle also was carrying heroin when he was arrested Saturday, police said.
