    Religious leaders from Cumberland, Atlantic and Cape May counties will assemble 2-5 p.m. April 13 at the Church of St. Katharine Drexel where a representative from New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness will address safety and security in houses of worship. The training, called Active Shooter Preparedness Training, has been arranged by Tri-County Community Organizations Active in Disaster, or COAD, which is a large association of local key responders who work in conjunction with county Offices of Emergency Management and FEMA when called upon for support following a declared disaster.

    For the first time since 1979 the continental United States will experience a total eclipse Aug. 21. While New Jersey won't be in the path of the total eclipse, which traverses the mid section of the country, the southern portion of the Garden State will still have the opportunity to see the moon cover 78 percent of the sun and up to 80 percent toward Cape May. Should the area be fortunate to have clear skies, the partial eclipse will begin around 1:20 p.m. and reach its peak at 2:45 p.m. It will come to conclusion at 4 p.m. As of Tuesday afternoon the long range forecast courtesy of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is showing mostly sunny skies for Monday.
