    With a May 17 deadline for turning in ballots only days away, South Umpqua School District Superintendent Jim Howard reached out to members of the Canyonville Chamber of Commerce Thursday, alerting them about the importance of passing Measure 10-139 for a healthy school district and community. Measure 10-139 asks SUSD school district residents to support a bond levy that would increase property taxes by $2.92 per $1,000 of assessed property value to raise $44,310,578 for construction of outdated school district buildings with an average age of 68.5 years.
