State troopers say the vehicle went off the road, hit a tree and burst into flames near a driveway after a speeding driver apparently lost control Sunday evening in Stark County's Lake Township.

The Canton Repository reports 70-year-old Patty Porter is working for the early release of Bobby Cutts Jr. The former Canton police officer was sentenced to life in prison in 2008 for the murder of his girlfriend, 26-year-old Jessie Davis, and their unborn daughter in Stark County's Plain Township.

    U.S. safety regulators have closed an investigation into a fatal crash involving electric car maker Tesla Motors' Autopilot system without seeking a recall, but they criticized the way the company markets the semi-autonomous driving feature. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the system had no safety defects at the time of the May 7 crash in Florida, and that it was primarily designed to prevent rear-end collisions, spokesman Bryan Thomas said Thursday.
