Fremont County will receive $600,000 to assess priority sites in Canon City and Florence to support revitalization that will strengthen and diversity the local economy.

    A survey conducted in January with people experiencing homelessness in Canon City, Florence and Penrose revealed that of the 195 participating individuals, 35 percent were sleeping outside. Of the nearly 200 people identified as experiencing homelessness here earlier this year, 50 have a chronic physical illness, 47 are survivors of domestic violence, 18 are veterans and 48 are age 50 or older.
