    It was a team effort constructing the new Caneyville Recreational Park, so it was only fitting that it was a team effort unveiling it on Saturday, April 18. The grand opening of the park, which includes two new ball fields and a concession stand, opened with a performance of the National Anthem by the Caneyville Elementary School Choir. The performance followed by an introduction by Caneyville Mayor James Embry, who said the long-awaited unveiling of the new ball fields was an emotional moment for him.

    According to Major Corey Knockel with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, the string of robberies began approximately one month ago and has been focused in the area of Caneyville, Falls of Rough and Short Creek. Knochel said that the perpetrator have been removing barn wood from buildings either while homeowners are away, or from properties on which the owners do not live.

    At around 11:02 a.m. on Thursday, the Grayson County Sheriff's Office , Caneyville Volunteer Fire Department, and Grayson County Emergency Medical Services responded to the crash in Caneyville. According to responding GCSO Major Corey Knochel, prior to the accident, a maroon Chevrolet HHR LT, driven by Roger Embry, 62, of Caneyville, was travelling eastbound on Beaver Dam Road.

    During its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, the Caneyville City Commission heard a presentation from Denver Blain, of C.I. Thornburg Co., Inc., regarding upgrading the city's water meter system from direct read meters to automated meters. Caneyville Water/Sewer Superintendent Avery Flener reported during the February City Commission meeting that his department would soon require new water meters because around 400 of the city's current meters are at least 15 years old.
