    Why you ask? Because "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds." To be fair, the Lakers haven't had to deal with much in the way snow, heat or gloom of night, but Lake Oswego has nonetheless delivered through a variety of challenging conditions in the 2017 season.

    While Lake Oswego is comfortably in first place in the Three Rivers League season-long standings, the Bowmen, Tigers and Timberwolves, as well as West Linn, are locked up in quite a battle for second, third and fourth place. The important thing about that is that the league champion, which certainly looks like it will be Lake Oswego, will go on to compete at the Class 6A state tournament, while the next three teams in the final TRL standings will advance to play in the regional tournament, with a chance to advance to state.

    The Tigers, after falling behind 2-0 in the third inning of their game with West Linn, answered back with nine unanswered runs to post a 9-2 victory over the Lions in a Three Rivers League game played Friday at Rosemont Ridge Middle School. With the victory, the Tigers improved to 2-0 in TRL games , putting them alone in first place in the league standings.

    The Lions, competing in the Special District 4 championship at Tigard High School on Friday and Saturday, finished the tournament in third place with 226.5 points, trailing only tournament champion Newberg's 465.5 points and runner-up Canby's 230.5. The Lions built their third-place finish on tournament championships by sophomore Sean Harman at 152 pounds and junior Taran Floyd at 160, and runner-up finishes by junior Brett Bell at 145 and sophomore Ethan Long at 182.
