    During Tuesday's Canajoharie Village Board meeting, the council approved the continuation of a contract with the Canajoharie Central School District, wherein the Canajoharie Police Department will provide a school resource officer throughout the 2018-19 school year. While the village funded the SRO's presence at CCSD for the last few months of the 2017-18 school year, CCSD will now fund the SRO program during the 2018-19 school year, with the village picking up the bill for the summer months.

Miles Lapi, 13, of Canajoharie was the first to be recognized in front of the legislature for his heroic act when he helped a family of 10 in the town of Palatine, who lost their home to a fire on July 27. Lapi was staying over at the Kwiatkowski's residence when a fire broke out.
