    Getting back on its regular schedule of meeting on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees will meet today at 6 p.m. The past several meetings have taken place on the second and fourth Tuesdays in order to deal with the search for a new superintendent and preliminary work on the Kershaw County School District's proposed Fiscal Year 2019 budget. Discussions on the proposed budget will continue tonight with -- at least according to an attachment to tonight's proposed agenda -- little change from the last two budget presentations.

    Camden police officers arrested Mark Anthony Davis, 50, of Lakeview Circle, Lugoff, for manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer received a call around 10:40 p.m. April 2 about a suspicious man in a red truck backed up to the new Camden Elementary School construction entrance on Lyttleton Street. The caller, who wished to remain anonymous, said the man had been walking around the vehicle and the construction site for extended periods of time.

    CAMDEN JUNIOR DARRION ALLEN qualified for Saturday's AAA state qualifier in Spartanburg in both the discus and the shot put. Camden finished second in last Wednesday's Region 4-3A Track meet, which was held at the Camden High School Spring Sports Complex.

Virginia was born in King, NC on July 16, 1916 and was the daughter of the late John Wilson Mitchell and Laura Mills Mitchell.

    We take a moment to mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Judge Robert Chapman, who passed away April 18 at the age of 91. Judge Chapman, who resided in Camden from 1971 until 2008, was by nature a quiet, humble man possessed of extraordinary drive and ability. He was not one to talk about personal accomplishments; however, they were many and impressive.
