    A Moreno Valley man who died early Sunday, May 7, made an “unsafe turning movement” while driving along San Timoteo Canyon Road that caused him to crash, the California Highway Patrol said. Larry Splawn Jr., 34, was driving a blue 2003 Acura 2 TLX sedan west on San Timoteo Canyon Road on the border of Calimesa, just north of Beaumont, according to a CHP news release.

Joseph Turner, a 39-year-old L.A.-area resident who formerly resided in San Bernardino and Redlands, hopes his proposed ballot measure, if passed, will inspire similar laws nationwide and spur efforts to challenge a 35-year-old U.S. Supreme Court ruling prohibiting the denial of free public education to students based on their immigration status.
